The team comprised of Joshna Chinappa, Anaka Alankamony and Surbhi Misra trounced Sri Lanka 3-0 in their opening encounter and outplayed China 3-0 in their second match, where Dipika Pallikal replaced Surbhi Misra.
The men’s team, too, got off to a good start when they scored a thumping 3-0 win over Japan with Sourav Ghosal, Harinder Pal Singh and Ritwik Bhattacharya all posting victories. Sri Lanka and South Korea also won their matches on the day.
