Santosh, in the fly weight category staged a stunning comeback to upset local lad, Orland. The Indian was trailing 2:3 and 6:7 in the first two rounds, but rallied in the third to win 15:10.
Santosh, a bronze medallist at the recently concluded 16th International Boxing Tournament in Almaty, Kazakhstan, got a standing ovation for his spectacular win. He will now take on Artur Cremildo from Mozambique in the next round.
The reigning national champion in the middle weight category, Kuldeep ousted Aidarov of Kazakhstan in a one sided contest, 14:7. He will now face-off Dominican Castillo Junior.
Paramjeet, a gold medallist at the Commonwealth Games and an Asian Games bronze medallist last year was too good for Manuel Martinez of Cuba, thrashing him 25:6.
Manpreet, a silver medallist at the 2010 Asian Games, also secured his place in the next round with a 14:8 win over Sammy Blyth of Australia.
The 41st edition of the tournament have nearly 100 boxers from 14 countries.
