Indian lifters win bagful of medals in Commw'lth Jr C'ships

Adimala Anand won the gold in men's junior 50kg category with a total lift of 185kg (81+104). His effort of 104kg in clean and jerk is the new Commonwealth record.

Ranjit Chinchwade also won a gold in men's junior 56kg event with a total lift of 226kg (100+126) while Shushant Sahu won the bronze with an effort of 216kg (96+120).

The third gold for India was won by Matsa Santoshi, in the women's junior 53kg category, with an effort of 163kg (71+92), while Sanjitha Chanu won a silver in 48kg with a total lift of 148kg (65+83).

In the Youth Championships, Pramila Kirsani won a silver in the 53kg category with a total lift of 154kg (67+87).

Meanwhile, in the inaugural International Weightlifting Federation Continental Clubs Grand Prix, at the same city, India's Services team won the gold and bronze through Sukhen Dey and V Srinivas Rao respectively in men's 56kg category.

Sukhen had an effort of 238kg to fetch the gold while Rao lifted 234kg to settle for the bronze.
