Jeev, who was left stranded at one-under yesterday, picked up seven birdies against a lone bogey to take his two-day total to seven-under 133 at the Sedgefield Country Club here.
Playing his back nine first, Jeev picked up a birdie at the 11th but a bogey on the 18th hole let him level-par at the turn.
On his way back, the Chandigarh-golfer went on a birdie firing spree and blasted as many as six birdies on the trot from second to seventh hole to finish the day on a high.
However, Atwal was not as lucky and even his improved card of three-under 67 couldn't save him as he missed the cut.
Atwal dropped a bogey on the very first hole followed by birdies on the fifth and eighth. But bogeys on the third and ninth hole meant he took the turn at one-over.
The Orlando-based golfer nailed birdies at 10th, 11th and 12th hole and also picked up shots at 15th and 16th before a lone bogey at the 14th.
Indian-born Swede Daniel Chopra carded a one-under 69 to lie tied 43rd with an aggregate of 136.
At the top, American Chris Riley blasted seven-under 63 to share the lead with compatriot Rayan Moore.
