Karnataka boys wear Jr National volleyball crown

 Karnataka boys defeated Tamil Nadu in straight sets to emerge champions in the 43rd Junior National Volleyball Championship that concluded in Chitradurga on Thursday.

The Anush-captained side clinched the final 3-0 (27-25, 25-23, 25-23). The Karnataka boys’ team had last won the junior nationals by beating Uttar Pradesh in Mandya in 2009.

It was Karnataka’s second final in six years. In 2011, they had lost to Uttar Pradesh in the title round to finish second in Bijapur.

After beating Telangana 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-10) in the quarterfinals, Karnataka got past Uttar Pradesh 3-1 (25-20, 22-25, 25-22, 25-18) in their last-four tie.
The Karnataka girls’ team clinched the bronze after beating Maharashtra.
In the boys’ section, Haryana spikers  settled for the third position.
