Bishop Cotton Girls Fever lifted the corresponding girls’ crown, beating Frank Anthony Public School Mystics 52-23 in the summit clash.In a low-scoring boys’ final, Knicks got off to a promising start and took a four-point lead through Darshan. But both teams’ then failed to come up with a single basket till the final minute of the first quarter when Cavs’ Maanav came up with a two-pointer.
The second quarter too failed to live up to expectations. However, Cavs managed to level the scores at 4-all through Varun before Samarth fetched them the lead. Cavs further increased the margin and took a four-point lead at 10-6 at half-time.
After the break, the match titled in favour of Knicks when Akash basketed two successive three-pointers. Knicks wobbled under pressure and surrendered their advantage with wayward passing.
Capitalising on the largesse, Cavs went ahead again and ended the penultimate quarter at 19-15 to stay on course for the title. But Knicks had other ideas in the fourth quarter and a three-pointer from Varun N set the stage for an exciting finish.
Jostin and Binoy pierced Cavs’ defence with ease to put Knicks in front by four points. Though Cavs’ Venkatesh gave a ray of hope with a three-point effort, Knicks held on to emerge champions.
