Lepakshi defeated Neha Karve of Belgaum to win the title. Lack of proper medical aid was apparent as one of the contestants got injured during a bout. A handkerchief came in handy to cover the injury before first-aid arrived.
Denying any slackness on their part, Karnataka Judo Association secretary SR Shivananda told Deccan Herald, “First-aid facilities were available and the judoka was attended to right after the incident.
“We take a lot of care when it comes to such things,” added Shivananda. “I can assure you that the judoka was taken care of right then and there.” It was a view seconded by Ajay Kumar Sarnaik, the president of KJA.
