India’s Mihika Yadav overcame Komola Umarova of Uzbekistan 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 to enter the girls’ singles second round of ITF Grade-4 junior tennis tournament at the DLTA complex on Tuesday.
It was a good win for Mihika as Umarova was fresh from a successful stint in Bangladesh, where she reached the ITF junior tournament singles final before going on to win both singles and doubles titles in the second week.
Mihika next plays third-seeded Habiba Lasheen of Egypt, who had blanked India’s Rajshree Rathod 6-0, 6-0.
In other girls’ singles first round matches, India’s Nidhi Surapaneni beat Uzbek Kristina Ten 6-3, 6-1 to run into seventh-seeded compatriot Karman Kaur Thandi.
However, Indian qualifier Rashmitha Reddy Pasula went down to sixth-seeded Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva of Uzbekistan 6-3, 6-2
In the boys’ first round matches, India’s Mohit Jain went down fighting against Russia’s Varis Yagudin 7-5, 7-6 (7-3). He next meets fourth-seeded compatriot Nikshep Ballekere Ravikumar.

ce in the second round was India’s Aditya Anant Gokhale, who beat wildcard Mahendru Tanishq 7-5, 6-3. He next plays Manav Pondkule.
