Mount Carmel College posted a 37-27 victory over Sindhi College on the second day of the Malleshwaram Cup inter-college invitational floodlight basketball championship held here at the Malleshwaram Ground.
After going down to RV College of Engineering (RVCE) on Tuesday, Mount Carmel bounced back to register their first win of the tournament. Mount Carmel have now ended their league with a win and a defeat (1-1 record).
Sindhi College now face the task of posting a big victory over RVCE to secure their place in the semifinals.
In the boys’ section on Tuesday, BMS College held their nerves to score a 47-45 win over Sindhi College.
The teams were tied at the end of the first and second quarters before BMS went ahead by five points in the penultimate period.
Sindhi College came surging back though, led by Abhishek’s 19 points, but they ended up falling one possession short of taking the game into overtime.
