Abubaker Rahaman scored a century to propel Merchants Cricket Club (2) to a 176-run win over Star Cricketers XI in the Dell-KSCA YS Ramaswamy cricket tournament.
Batting first, Merchants put on a mammoth 355, thanks mainly to Rahaman’s 121. GS Unni (71) too contributed with a handy half-century. Arun (3/64) was the pick of the bowlers for Star Cricketers.
In reply, Star Cricketers were shot out for a paltry 179 in 35.4 overs. Jared Solomon, who had earlier scored 34, scalped three wickets while Adarsh (2/44) and Karthik (2/37) bagged two apiece for Merchants.
In other matches, Jawahar Sports Club (1) registered a facile seven-wicket win over Malleswaram United Cricket Club. Malleswaram, riding on Bushan’s half-century and cameos from Zafaruddin (28), Govindappa (33) and YB Basavaraj (33), scored 221.
In reply, Jawahar SC went about their run chase with ease as KC Avinash notched up an impressive century and Nischal D posted an unbeaten 61. Zafaruddin returned to the field and scalped a couple of wickets.
Jawans Cricket Club too had it easy in their match against Young Lions Club. Rajoo Bhatkal scalped five wickets to help Jawans CC bowl out Young Lions to a paltry 74 in 22.5 overs. Jawans scaled the target in 14.4 overs with six wickets to spare.
