Karnataka’s Rebecca timed 11.3 seconds to come first in the trials at the Sree Kanteerava stadium, finishing ahead of Orissa’s Srabani Nanda (11.4), West Bengal’s Arjina Khatun (11.4) and Andhra Pradesh girl Ch Shanthi (11.5).
The exercise was to find the top four from the six originally included in the squad and in that quest, Kerala’s Priya P K (11.6) and Karnataka’s Nirupama Sunderraj (11.7) who finished fifth and sixth, missed out.
In the men’s 400M race, Bibin Mathew underlined his form with a 46.0-second burst for the top spot. S K Mortaja (46.1), P Kunhumohammad (46.2), Vinay Chaudhary (46.3), Prem Anand (46.4) and V B Bineesh (46.9) occupied the next five spots while Jitin Paul (47.0) and Harpreet Singh (47.1) ended up seventh and eighth.
