Carlos Vela converted a penalty in the 26th minute to give Mexico a 1-0 halftime lead over South Korea in their World Cup Group F game on Saturday.

Vela sent goalkeeper Cho Hyun-woo the wrong way after a cross hit the outstretched arm of Jang Hyun-soo at close range.
