Sharath, who was born with a disability in his left hand, took home one gold and a silver in swimming events at the IWAS Games here.

“I am really proud of my achievement today. I am extremely happy to win medals in front of my parents and friends. Winning medals at home was my dream,” said Sharath, who won the 100M breaststroke gold and a silver in the 400M freestyle on Saturday.

The 18-year-old Bangalorean went on, “my aim is to win more medals for the country. However, my ultimate aim is to compete in the 2012 London Paralympics,” revealed Sharath.

The first year B.Com student of BNM College had also won two gold two silver and one bronze two years before at the IWAS Games in Chinese Taipei.
