Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates predicted that artificial intelligence (AI) will surely replace humans for most things, media reports said.
The billionaire has stated that danger looms upon many jobs in the coming years due to the AI revolution. Several jobs might get replaced by AI in different sectors, however amid all the uncertainty, there are three professions that will not be affected.
The sectors which are in the safe space as of now are coding, energy, and biology, Gates stated.
In an interview last month with Harvard University professor Arthur Brooks, Gates said that the world is entering a new era called the “free intelligence”, wherein one can witness rapid advances through AI-powered technologies.
Gates believes that human programmers, coders, who are the architects of AI, will continue to remain an essential part in the work flow as they are very much essential for debugging issues as well as for refining and advancements of Artificial intelligence, an ET report said.
AI will always require people to build as well as manage it, hence coders and their skills will eventually become more and more valuable, the report added.
Coming to the energy sector, human intervention here is a must as AI cannot manage it alone, the report stated. Gates believes that while AI cannot replace human expertise in situations pertaining to crisis management and decision making.
Industry experts always remain a must in the energy sector as they are required to deal with issues like nuclear power, oil, or even when it comes to renewable energy, since AI will not be capable of handling the unpredictable nature of energy demands globally.
The report further added that as per Gates’ prediction, AI will not be able to replace biologists however will prove to be an useful tool when it comes to disease diagnosis and DNA analytics, as artificial intelligence lacks the ability required for scientific discoveries and research.
Biologists will continue to play a very vital role when it comes to medical advancements as well as understanding life’s complexities.
The billionaire also acknowledged that these were just predictions and may not be foolproof, as AI and its influence on the job market will likely evolve, however it will surely redefine the ways of work.
