Search engine giant Google has begun rolling out March update to all eligible Android phones worldwide. It is bringing new feature to the Find My Device app that lets users share their real-time location with their loved ones.
Though, this feature available on Google Maps, the Find My Device will be better.
Here, users can not only trace their companion devices, accessories like Bluetooth-based article tracker, and earphones, but also know the live location of devices of their children or elderly parents all at one place.
Here's how to enable live location sharing on the Find My Device app for Android phones:
Step 1: On the device, go to the Find My Device app.
Step 2: Select the accessory you want to share >> Tap Share device.
Step 3: Follow the on-screen instructions.
Note: Users can send the invitation with any messaging app like, text, email, or Quick Share. The friend or family member has 24 hours to accept the invitation.
Step 4: The friend or family member has to open the link sent via the invitation. They will prompted to download the Find My Device app if it’s not already installed. And, they can choose whether to accept the invitation.
To accept: Tap Accept.
To decline: Tap Decline.
Note: When the user accepts an invitation, under the shared device is a 4-digit PIN. He/she can use the PIN for added security.
This feature update for the Find My Device app is being rolled out in phases, so it will some time to reach corners of the world.
Apple also offers similar features for iPhones. In 2021, Apple launched the live location with iOS 15 update.
