Apple's MacBook Air 2025 series comes with M4 series silicon, which promises to be faster and more efficient than the previous iteration.
An interesting aspect is that the new generation MacBook Air model's price starts at Rs 99,999, Rs 15,000 less than the predecessor's launch price. And, it should be noted that the base model now comes with 16GB RAM, double that of the 2024 model.
I have been using the MacBook Air M4 for more than a month. Here are my thoughts on Apple's latest notebook.
Design and build quality
In terms of design, Apple hasn't any major changes to the MacBook Air M4. It looks very similar to its predecessor.
It sports a sleek design language with an all-metal body. Apple has done a fabulous job with the colour scheme. And, for the first time, the company is offering it in sky blue colour. It looks amazing with a metallic finish.

Additionally, it is available in midnight, starlight, and silver colours as well.
Our review unit is MacBook Air (2025) 13. It features a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display with up to 2560x1664p resolution and 500 nits peak brightness.
It supports True Tone Technology, one billion colours, and up to 2x the resolution of comparable PC laptops.
One work for long hours staring at the screen with less worry about any strain to the eyes.
Also, it is great for watching movies and TV series on OTT apps. The display is bright and deliver best viewing experience.
It comes with a new backlit Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, 79 (ISO) keys including 12 full-height function keys and 4 arrow keys in an inverted-T arrangement. Though the laptop comes in a compact form factor, the keyboard layout is well spread out for the fingers to type the words faster without any discomfort.
I was able to type stories sitting in an economy class seat with ease during the flight. The keys are tactile and also the big Force Touch trackpad is great with precise cursor control.

It also boasts a new 12MP Center Stage camera with improved video quality. Further, it can support up to two 6K external displays, in addition to its built-in Liquid Retina display.
The camera is of top-notch quality. It can record and stream up to full HD (1080p).
The 13.6-inch model comes with a four-speaker system, a three-microphone array and a 3.5mm audio jack. The speakers are also amazingly good.

It features two Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) ports, which allow fast data transfer speeds and offer more flexibility across peripherals. It also comes with MagSafe 3.0 charging port.
And, the TouchID biometric sensor secures your computer. And, by the way, it works like a charm, instantly recognises the owner's thumb imprints and unlocks the home screen without any issues.
Performance
The new MacBook's M4 silicon houses a 10-core CPU, with four performance cores and six efficiency cores and a 10-core GPU with support for hardware-accelerated mesh shading, and 2x faster ray tracing acceleration for an improved gaming experience.
Whatever the tasks are, the device works amazingly smoothly without breaking any sweat. It supports all major games available on Apple Arcade.

If you are not satisfied with the base 16GB RAM capacity, Apple offers configuration options up to 32GB of unified memory. It supports a higher memory bandwidth of 120GB/s.

It is also great for editing short videos for school projects or ppt presentations.
The latest MacBook Air runs macOS Sequoia. With the release of macOS 15.4, the device supports all the Apple Intelligence features including Image Playground, ChatGPT-powered Siri digital assistant with Indian English, smart Writing Tools, Genmoji and more.

With Writing tools, users can draft emails with correct grammar, write stories, rewrite, proofread, and summarise a long-form article.
Compared to iPhones, and for obvious reasons, the Apple Intelligence features work discernibly faster.

As far as the battery life is concerned, the 13.6-inch model houses a 53.8-watt-hour lithium-polymer battery. Like the predecessor, it can deliver up to 15 hours of web browsing (via Wi-Fi) and up to 18 hours of video streaming.
I took this MacBook Air for two-day trips twice in the last month. And, guess what, I did not carry the charger at all. With the Apple MacBook, I never get that anxiety of running out of battery any time during travel. I even charged my iPhone while flying back home.
With full control over both the hardware and software, Apple does an amazing job of optimising the device to deliver the best user experience.

With 16GB RAM available on the base model, the device works super smooth. Even while running Apple intelligence features, it didn't exhibit any sign of lag-ness as such. With Apple Intelligence available in India, doing homework will be a lot more easy and fun.
