Samsung first showed off the futuristic robot Ballie in 2020 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Since then, the South Korean company has been adding new features to its cute robot. Last year, it got a built-in TV projector and a boatload of Artificial Intelligence (AI) features.

However, Samsung Ballie never made it to the homes of customers.

Now, Samsung is planning to finally roll out the Ballie robot in the first half of 2025, reported TechRadar, citing Samsung officials at the CES 2025 event.

The Samsung robot has the same design language as the original. It comes in a Yellow-hued foot-ball-size baseball-shaped robot with a camera, full HD triple-laser projector and motion sensors to move around without dashing into people's feet or objects at home.

It can work as a mobile home security camera. It has LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging), a remote sensing technology that uses lasers to measure the distance between two objects. For more accuracy, Samsung has incorporated a Time of Flight (ToF) camera sensor to perform the same function as above.

With such state-of-the-art technology, Ballie can map every corner of the house. It can do rounds inside to detect any breach in security when the owner is out for work or on a trip. The back camera can stream 2K resolution video. Also, the front camera can stream 4K resolution video.

Also, when the owner is at home, it movies along with the members to assist them with real-time information on traffic, weather, news, and sports updates. Also, it can help them control other Internet-of-Things (IoT) gadgets such as security cameras in front of the house or AC to control the temperature in a particular room or turn on or off the smart geyser.

It can even assist in making the grocery list before heading out to the shop.

And, with the built-in high-resolution TV projector, Ballie can stream movies or TV series on the wall or the ceiling. it can auto-adjust the screen size depending on the distance from the wall. Users need not have to physically adjust the screen.

The owner has to just say the launch phrase 'Hey Ballie' to start talking with the Samsung robot and perform the task. Initially, it will support three languages-- English, Spanish and Korean.

The price of the Samsung Ballie is expected to be revealed during local launch events later in the year. There is no official word on when the home assistant robot will make its debut in India yet.

In a related development, Apple is all set to foray in to smart home segment in 2025. It is expected to launch smart doorbell-cum-security camera later this year.
