After the end of the COVID-19 pandemic-induced lockdown, people, particularly in India, are travelling more than ever.
During the weekend, they usually venture to the outskirts of the city, and for long festival holidays, they plan for inter-district or inter-state travel.
However, to decide on Picnic spots, people are relying more on social media platforms. A Kantar report commissioned by Google has revealed that more than 65 per cent of Indian travellers use YouTube in choosing their next holiday tour.
"YouTube is fueling aspirational travel and deep engagement across formats: Creators are highly influential, trusted by 59 per cent of travellers who rely on them during trip planning, while Shorts are used for inspiration by 2 in 5 of travellers," said the report.
Domestically, 72 per cent of travellers cite cost as less of a consideration, and 81 per cent expect to splurge. This premiumisation is even more pronounced for global trips, where the average spend is 3.2X that of a domestic trip, noted the Google-Kantar report.
“Travelling is now a form of self-expression, yet the path to booking is often fragmented. We are seeing our digital ecosystem simplify this complexity. YouTube is the inspiration hub, Search is the essential touchpoint for planning, with AI emerging as the critical enabler for travellers. At the same time, we are enabling brands with our AI-powered ads suite and the YouTube creator ecosystem to optimise for micro-moments, ensuring personalised messaging that converts peak interest into a booking,” said Shaurab Kapadia, Head of Travel & FoodTech, Google India.

Here are key features coming in the new update:

--Live Updates deliver real-time ride, delivery, and timer information directly to your screen and the Glyph Interface, unifying lock-screen, notification, and light-based cues so you can track progress instantly without opening an app.
--Any app that supports Android 16’s Live Updates feature will now start supporting Nothing’s Glyph Progress feature. This means Nothing can support far more apps than before.
Extra Dark Mode
--A refined Extra Dark Mode deepens blacks, improves contrast, and reduces power use across the system.
--It brings a calmer, more focused look to Notifications, Quick Settings, and the App Drawer, enhancing both comfort and visibility in low light.
--It now extends to first-party apps like Essential Space and Launcher, with wider integration to follow.
More interactive animations
--Nothing OS 4.0 enhances how the system feels in motion. Every touch, swipe, and gesture now responds with more depth and tactility.
--Haptic Feedback at Volume Limits
--When adjusting the volume, subtle haptic feedback now appears at the maximum and minimum points. It gives you an immediate, physical response, even when you are not looking at the screen.

--Opening and closing apps now feels smoother and more immersive. The home screen background gently scales in or out, creating a sense of depth and connection that makes every transition feel alive.
