Technology companies Sony, Lava International Ltd, Samsung, HP and others launched smart TV, computers, smartphones, accessories, and more this week (May 19-25, 2025).

The new Sony TV boasts of X1 Picture processor, which uses advanced algorithms to reduce noise and enhance detail. With Live Color technology, it promises to deliver content closer to true 4K resolution with real lifelike colours.

The content filmed in 2K or even Full HD can be upscaled close to 4K resolution by 4K X-Reality PRO, using a unique 4K database.

With Motionflow XR, the TV can stream smooth and sharp details even in fast-moving scenes. Sony's innovative technology creates and inserts extra frames between the original one. It analyses key visual elements across successive frames and calculates split-second moments of missing action.

BRAVIA 2 II series also features open baffle down-firing twin speakers that deliver 20 watts of powerful sound, along with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.

It runs Google TV OS and supports more than 10,000 apps. With ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) in HDMI 2.1, the BRAVIA 2 II can recognise when a console is connected and powered on, automatically switching to low latency mode offering smoother, more responsive gameplay crucial for fast-paced, high-intensity games.

It is available in --43-inch, 50-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch screen sizes with prices ranging between Rs 50,990 and Rs 1,45,990.

It sports a 32-inch display monitor with a near zero-bezel design.

Under the hood, it comes with the latest Intel Core Ultra processor, combined with Intel AI Boost and Intel Arc graphics, and can deliver 47 TOPS NPU performance.

It houses 32 GB DDR5 memory to deliver rapid performance, smooth multitasking, and increased efficiency, making it ideal for handling demanding tasks with ease.

It also features The AI-enhanced Poly Camera Pro, which ensures sharp, high-quality video, while the 5MP camera with HDR auto-switch, Windows Studio Effects, and AI Noise Removal provides clear visuals and sound. It also comes with several ports including HDMI, Type-C and more. It costs Rs 1,79,999.

It runs Windows 11 OS and comes pre-loaded with Microsoft Office 2024 application.

Oppo announces deeper collaboration with Google to bring more Gemini AI-enabled features to its phones

With the new Android OS update, generative Artificial Intelligence (gen AI)-based Gemini will be able to connect to Oppo apps and services, including Oppo Notes, Calendar, and Clock, allowing users to pull information and complete tasks directly in their chats.

With a single prompt, users can ask Gemini to work across their apps simply by pressing and holding the side button to activate Gemini.

For instance, users will be able to ask Gemini to summarise key points from a lengthy document and save the summary directly into Oppo Notes for easy access. Leveraging Gemini's powerful multimodal capabilities, users will be able to capture essential steps from recipe tutorials on YouTube, instructing Gemini to save them efficiently within Oppo Notes.

Oppo's upcoming new Reno14 series will get all the aforementioned features.

It boasts of AI Wash technology. It has 3-step sensing, which enables machines intelligently detect the fabric type and weight to automatically recommend the optimal settings for each load.

Leveraging an advanced AI algorithm, the cycle adjusts key parameters—such as water level, agitation intensity, and wash and rinse duration—delivering up to 25 per cent better fabric care and taking good care of fabrics.

The Ecobubble ensures up to 20 per cent better fabric care reducing wear on clothes by effectively dissolving detergent, delivering a powerful yet gentle wash.

For a deeper clean, Hygiene Steam, powered by an in-built heater, can eliminate up to 99.9 per cent of bacteria and allergens, ensuring superior hygiene.

With Super Speed technology, users can complete a wash cycle in just 29 minutes, saving time without compromising on cleaning efficiency.

Stain Wash, on the other hand, gives users the option to use either warm or hot water to remove dirt and stains effectively.

It can clean everyday marks like sweat at 40°C. AI Energy Mode, available through the SmartThings App, optimises energy consumption, reducing usage by up to 20 per cent while maintaining powerful performance. Users can track their daily, weekly, and monthly power consumption, with the app even estimating monthly energy bills.

AI VRT+ technology ensures quieter operation while adapting to various floor conditions. This advanced version of the VRT+ system gathers multiple signals from the washer and sends them to an AI server, that analyzes the type of floor the washer is placed on

It will be available in 8KG, 10KG, 12KG, and 14KG capacities, with prices starting at Rs 24, 490.

Intel unveils new Xeon 6 series CPUs

Intel earlier this week announced three new Xeon 6 series of central processing units (CPUs).

They are designed specifically to manage the most advanced graphics processing unit (GPU)-powered AI systems. These new processors with performance cores (P-cores) include Intel’s innovative Priority Core Turbo (PCT) technology and Intel Speed Select Technology – Turbo Frequency (Intel SST-TF), which can deliver customisable CPU core frequencies to boost GPU performance across demanding AI workloads.

It sports a 6.67-inch HD+ screen with 120Hz refresh rate, and offers up to 1000 nits peak brightness. It also comes with a MIL-STD-810H durability rating, IP65 water-and-dust-resistant rating, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, dual SIM slots and a type-C port.

Inside, it houses 6nm class MediaTek Dimensity 6300 octa-core processor with 1072MHz ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, Android 15-based ColorOS 15, 4GB LPDDR4X RAM (Up to 4GB Virtual RAM expansion), 128GB UFS 2.2 storage (expandable to 1TB), a 32MP main camera with LED flash on the back, a 5MP front camera and a 6,000mAh battery with 45W charger. It costs Rs 13,999.

Global consumer electronics major Xiaomi has launched its all-new YU7 EV series in China.

YU, which translates to the Chinese phrase 'riding with wind' comes with powerful HyperEngine V6s Plus, which can deliver a maximum output of 690 PS (508 kW) and 528 N·m of torque up to 22,000 rpm. It can go from zero to 100 in just 3.25 seconds. It can clock a maximum speed of 253 km/hour.

With full charge, the top-end model can run for up to 835 km. The car will go for sale in July initially in China. The price details will be revealed later.

The new Lava Shark 5 is expected to feature a 6.75-inch HD+ (1612 × 720p) LCD screen, 90Hz refresh rate. It supports dual-SIM slots, dust-and-splash resistant rating, a type-C port, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

It comes with a UNISOC T765 octa-core processor with Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, Android 15 OS, 4GB LPDDR4x RAM, 64GB UFS 2.2 storage (expandable up to 512GB), 13MP main camera on the back, a 5MP front camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with 18W charger. It costs Rs 7,999.
