Google has rolled out the second preview version of Android 16 for registered developers.
The new Android 16 preview OS comes with improvements designed to enhance the app experience, extend battery life, and boost the performance of the device.
Also, it improves security on devices with support for WiFi 6's 802.11az. It allows apps to combine the higher accuracy, greater scalability, and dynamic scheduling of the protocol with security enhancements including AES-256-based encryption and protection against MITM (Man-in-the-middle) attacks.
For the uninitiated, MITM is a type of cyberattack technique where a hacker intercepts and steals sensitive information exchanged between two parties using WI-FI. For instance, when people connect their phones to public Wi-Fi networks to communicate via messenger apps or emails.
Google has requested registered developers to share feedback with the company.
The Android 16 preview is the last developer version, the company is expected to release the public beta in early 2025. Interested users can experience the new software first-hand before the official launch in around August next year.
Android 16 developer preview can be installed from Google's official website (here).

Google Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 8, 8a, 8 Pro, Pixel Fold, Pixel 7, Pixel 7a, Pixel 7 Pro, and Pixel 6
