Popular consumer electronics major OnePlus on Tuesday (May 27) announced to bring value-added generative Artificial Intelligence (gen AI) features to its phones.
Called OnePlus AI features, they promise to enhance the user experience on OnePlus phones.
First of many features coming to OnePlus devices include AI VoiceScribe, AI Call Assistant and AI Translation will help users be more productive than ever before.
Here are key OnePlus AI features:
AI VoiceScribe: With this, users can users can record phone calls. This feature can also help with summarising and translating calls and meetings directly within popular messaging, video, and online meeting applications.
AI Call Assistant: In India, the OnePlus 13s will be the first OnePlus phone to support the new OnePlus Dialler feature. It will offer options for automatic call summaries or real-time Call Translation during calls.
AI Translation: It can translate things in multiple formats including text, live voice, camera-based, and screen translation – into a single, intuitive app, making it easier to understand foreign languages and communicate with locals.
AI Search: AI Search enables conversational, natural language queries, seamlessly searching local files, settings, notes, and calendars for contextually relevant results. Integrated with AI Plus Mind, it enhances productivity through intuitive, and interactive searches.

AI Reframe: This will be incorporated with the native OnePlus phone camera app. It can intelligently analyse the photo scenes, can identify the subjects, and adjust composition, generating multiple creative framing options for users to choose from.
AI Best Face 2.0: This feature is similar to Google's 'Best Take' feature on Pixel 8 and new models. It promises to improve the group photos by automatically detecting and correcting issues like closed eyes or suboptimal expressions for more polished results. This feature supports images with up to 20 individuals and works even with photos captured on other devices. The new feature will be released through a software update in the coming months.
All the new features will be coming first to the soon-to-be-launched OnePlus 13s in June. The device will feature 'Plus Key', which will replace the Alert Slider', a trademark feature of OnePlus phones for more than a decade.
With the OnePlus 13s, the company is bringing a new 'Plus Mind' feature. It can be triggered by pressing the 'Plus Key'. It can assist the phone owner in remembering content online or an item on an e-commerce app. It will be stored in 'Mind Space' storage and there user can recollect to buy an item or complete a task at a later date.
For instance, Plus Mind feature can extract schedule details from an image or text and add them directly to the user's calendar.
The company says that the AI Search, integrated with AI Plus Mind, supports natural language queries for easy retrieval of saved content.
In the coming months, AI Plus Mind will be able to automatically categorise saved content for better organisation.
Also, the company says that the interaction between the device owner and the AI bot will mostly be done on-device and for some complex tasks, it will be relayed to the cloud server.

However, the company says the interaction between the users and the AI bot connected to the cloud will be fully encrypted through the Private Computing Cloud system. It won't be available for access to anybody or even OnePlus. Only the device owner can access it.

Besides the AI Plus Mind feature, users can programme the 'Plus Key' to perform several actions such as opening an app, taking a screenshot, launching the camera, turning on the torchlight, switching between silent, or ring mode and do more.
