Vivo recently launched the company's new mid-range T4 series mobile in India.
It comes with a whole lot of upgrades not just with the cosmetic changes, but also in terms of internal hardware such as Qualcomm's reliable Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor and a massive battery.
I used the Vivo T4 for a week and here are my thoughts on the new Android phone.
Design, build quality and display
Vivo T4 is very different compared to the predecessor. It features a gigantic camera module on the back and the rest has a minimalistic design with just Vivo branding at the base. It features 40-degree golden arc design, where all the corners and the sides are meticulously crafted to have an uniform depth of curvature on all sides to offer a good grip for the hands to hold onto the device.
Also, the device is just 7.89mm in thickness, very easy to hold the device and there will be less chance of slipping out of the hand.

The Vivo T3 comes with MIL-STD-810H military-grade durability, IP65 dust-and-splash rating and the front glass is protected by Shield Glass against daily wear-and-tear.

Further, the device is offered with a free cover case as well. The device is fully protected to ensure it can serve the customer for several years.
Our review unit is phantom grey and the company also offers another variant emerald green. The latter is said to be the best-looking model among the two.
On the front, the device features a 6.77-inch full HD (2392 x 1080p) AMOLED display, supports 120Hz refresh rate and offers up to up to 5,000 nits peak brightness.

It is good enough to consume multimedia content for long hours, even have extended sessions of gaming. But, outdoors with direct sunlight, there will be reflection issues. This is not a big deal, as all mid-range phones have this kind of limitation compared to ultra-premium models, which come with anti-glare features.
On the bright side, the device has a dedicated feature to control blue light emissions during the night and also while playing games.
It also features a type-C port, dual-SIM slots and speaker. Further, it also houses an infrared sensor, which comes in handy to control Internet-of-Things (IoT) at home such as smart TVs, smart ACs and home security cameras.
The in-display fingerprint sensor works smoothly without issues.
Performance
The new Vivo phone is powered by Qualcomm's 4nm class 2.5Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 octa-core with Adreno 720 GPU.
It is available in three configurations-- 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 256GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. Our review unit is the latter.

The device worked smoothly without any pressing issues to complain about.
It runs Android 15-based Funtouch OS 15. Though it has a lot of pre-loaded apps, it does take away the space much. There is enough space to install hundreds of new apps and also capture photos and videos.
The device supports several generative Artificial Intelligence (gen AI) features and tools including AI Erase, AI Photo Enhance, Live Text, AI Note Assistant, Super Documents, Circle to Search and more.
And, the T4 is assured to get at least two years of Android software updates and three years of security patches against cyber threats up to 2028.

The most notable aspect of the Vivo T4 is the massive 7,300mAh battery. As advertised, the device delivers on its promise.
It consistently delivered one-and-half days of normal usage with Wi-Fi at both home and the office.
If the device is fully dependent on the cellular network all day, it can still be able to last a whole day and still be left with more than 30 per cent before one retires to the bed at night.
Also, it boasts of 90W charging speed capability. It can go from zero to 50 per cent in around 30 minutes and hit 100 per cent under 70 minutes. By the way, Vivo offers the charger free of cost with the retail box.

It takes really good photos in the sunlight. As you can see the camera samples, the subjects, particularly the flowers appear lively, worth sharing on social media platforms.

Though there is no ultra-wide angle, the device can accommodate a lot of space in the frame.

With the Portrait mode, the camera does an amazing job of artfully blurring the background and keeping the sharp focus on the subject. The sample photo below shows how the edges of the flower petals are perfectly captured.

At night, the device does a decent job of getting a good photo with less noise.

As noted earlier in the performance section, the Vivo T4 supports an AI eraser. It does an amazing job of removing unwanted objects from the frame.

On the front, it houses a 32MP camera. It takes pretty nice selfies in almost all light conditions. There are lot of superficial tools in the native camera to enhance the beauty of the face.

Both the cameras can record 4K videos at 30 frames per second (fps). The video quality is decent and on par with rival brands in its class.
