Consumer electronics major Xiaomi on Tuesday (April 15) unveiled the new budget Android phone Redmi A5 series in India.
Redmi A5 sports a 6.88-inch HD+ (1640 x 720p) IPS LCD screen with 120Hz refresh rate. It supports TÜV Rheinland-certified eye protection, a 3.5mm audio jack, type-c port, triple slots (for two nano SIMs and a microSD card) and side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
It is powered by a 12nm class 1.8GHz Unisoc T7250 octa-core processor with Mali-G57 MP1 GPU, Android 15 (Go Edition) OS, 3GB / 4GB LPDDR4X RAM, 64GB / 128GB eMMC 5.1 storage (expandable up to 2TB), and a 5,200mAh battery with a 15W charger.
The device is confirmed to get two years of Android OS updates and fours years of software security updates for protection against emerging cyber threats.

It also boasts of a dual-camera module-- 32MP (f/2.0) camera with a secondary sensor and LED flash on the back. It also features an 8MP (f/2.0) front camera.
Xiaomi's new Redmi A5 comes in two variants- 3GB RAM + 64GB storage and 4GB RAM + 128GB storage -- for Rs 6,499 and Rs 7,499, respectively. It is available in three colours-- black, blue and titanium.
