Just a week ahead of the I/O 2025 event, Alphabet-owned Google has updated its signature 'G' favicon on its search engine app.

The last time Google changed its logo was way back in 2015. Previously, it had lowercase 'g' in white with a light blue background. In 2015, the Google logo featured an uppercase 'G' with a solid block of four colours (top-to-bottom)- red, yellow, green and blue.

Now, the new 'G' logo has the same four colours, but fused and in gradient form. The new modern look is in line with Google's Gemini AI logo. It too has colours blue and purple seamlessly blended.

The new 'G' favicon is appearing in the Google search app on iPhone, and Pixel devices. As the update is being rolled out in phases, it will take some time to reach all Android phones worldwide.

However, it should be noted that Google's standard six-letter logo hasn't been changed as yet. It continues to appear in regular format.

Even Google Maps and other Google's suite of apps such as Google Drive, Google Photos and Calendar haven't undergone any new changes yet.

Google I/O 2025 event is slated to kick off next week on May 21. It is expected to announce several new updates for its applications, including the new Android 16 OS, Gemini AI and more.
