In 2024, Oppo began introducing generative Artificial Intelligence (gen AI) features to improve photography experience. Later, Oppo began supporting Google's Gemini AI in its phones.

Now, Oppo and Google, who are participating in the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, have announced their Artificial Intelligence strategy. They plan to bring system-wide gen AI integration in Oppo devices soon.

Google Gemini will soon be able to take action across native Oppo apps, such as Notes, Calendar, and Clock. These new capabilities will work alongside existing support for Gemini 1.5 Pro and Gemini 1.5 Flash AI models.

Oppo has revealed that all the on-device information processing done by generative AI features will adhere to strict user privacy laws. The company will be implementing Private Computing Cloud (PCC) built with Confidential Computing from Google Cloud. Starting from AI Recording Summary, AI features including AI Search, AI Studio, AI Call Summary will be integrated with Oppo Private Computing Cloud this year, the company noted.

Monthly AI update will be released to all eligible Oppo phones.

Oppo also promised that the company will be rolling out monthly updates with new AI features to improve user experiences on its Android phones.

Further, new AI features like AI Search and integration of OPPO applications with Google Gemini are coming to the OPPO Find N5 soon.

The AI Call Translator, which interprets calls in multiple languages in real-time, and AI VoiceScribe, offering multi-use voice summarization across voice calls, online learning, and meetings, are coming to Oppo devices via a future update.

Besides Google, Oppo will be closely working with MediaTek to optimise chips for its phones to deliver high-efficiency, real-time AI processing that enables powerful performance without compromising energy efficiency.
