Last month, reports emerged that Netflix was planning to bring a new Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based chatbot feature to its Over-The-Top multimedia content app.
Now, the company has officially launched the AI-powered experience on Netflix to improve the user experience.
It should be noted that Netflix back in 2021, introduced 'Play Something' button. This feature was loved by all. It saved a lot of time for users who used to spend more time to find a perfect genre or a particular artist's movie or TV series.
With 'Play Something', Netflix recommends the right TV series or a movie based on viewing history and type of content genre, which has been watched more in that particular account.
Now, with the new AI-based search technology, a Netflix AI chatbot will be able to offer even better personalised recommendation to watch on the OTT platform. Users can ask the bot with natural, conversational phrases. For instance, a user can ask 'I want something funny and upbeat'. Then, Netflix will list all the related TV series and movies.
Besides the AI chatbot, Netflix is also bringing a new way to discover new content. When the user logs in to the app, it will have a vertical feed filled with clips of Netflix shows and movies. He/she will be able to tap to watch the whole show or movie immediately, add it to 'My List', or share it to friends.
Further, Netflix will be revamping the homepage. It will have a clean and modern design which will be easy for the subscriber to find the right entertainment content without losing much time.
For now, the AI chatbot is an opt-in beta feature on Netflix for iPhones and is available in select countries including the US. It will be expanded to more regions in the coming months.
