Since the launch of OpenAI's generative Artificial Intelligence (gen AI)-based model ChatGPT in 2022, it has been added to several of Microsoft's applications and just last year, Apple introduced ChatGPT integration with its own Apple Intelligence features.

Even Google has done the same with its propreitary Gemini AI by integrating it with Gmail, Google Sheets, Maps, and more to help customers improve their productivity.

Now, Netflix is planning to bring a ChatGPT-powered search engine to its OTT app, reported Bloomberg.

In 2021, Netflix had introduced 'Play Something' button. With this, it recommends TV series or a movie based on viewing history and type of content genre, which has been watched more in that particular account.

Now, with the new AI-based search technology, Netflix promises to offer even better than the usual content recommendation based on a actor, title or a genre.

It will have more metrics to deliver user-specific personal content. It will be able to offer the right movie or TV recommendation based on the user's mood. Users can type what they want to see or even talk to the Netflix's custom-built ChatGPT chatbot like a natural conversation between two people.

Currently, the new ChatGPT-based AI search engine on Netflix is being tested in select global regions in Australia and New Zealand on iOS devices.

After the testing phase, Netflix is expected to introduce a new AI search engine to its OTT app worldwide soon.
