WhatsApp has been steadily increasing its privacy security features in the last few years. It offers end-to-end encryption, disappearing messages, view once and more.

However, there was one shortcoming in these privacy features—the receiver was still able to download photos or texts on to their device's gallery app.

In the latest update, the Meta-owned entity has introduced a new privacy feature 'Advanced Chat Privacy' that fixes the aforementioned flaw.

Once the Advanced Chat Privacy feature is turned on, any conversation and even images/videos exchanged between two individuals will not be downloaded to the receiver's gallery app. Even the chat history can not be exported to another device.

This privacy security feature will come in handy for corporate employees who have the responsibility to protect the company's trade secrets.

Even for general users, particularly between partners or spouses, private chats and images/videos will be protected. This will also prevent jilted lovers from misusing private information to blackmail or harm their partners.

Users can turn this feature on by tapping the chat name, then tapping on Advanced Chat Privacy.

The company says that this is the first version of this feature. It is planning to further boost its security measures.
