Just a week ago, Meta began monetising WhatsApp with ads on status updates. Now, it is planning to bring more value-added features to enhance the user experience on the messenger app.
WhatsApp is testing a new feature that allows users to generate custom chat wallpaper using generative Artificial Intelligence(gen AI)-powered Meta AI platform, reported WABeta Info, citing the latest WhatsApp Android beta v2.25.15.7.
As you can see from the screen-grab (below), users can instantly create their chat wallpaper in a few seconds. With just a text description, users can refine and personalise as per their requirements.

This feature offers more personalisation and looks way better than those stock wallpapers available on WhatsApp.
Here's how to customise chat background wallpaper via Meta AI on WhatsApp:
Step 1: Open Whatsapp >> Tap a chat session >> tap on the contact info
Step 2: Scroll down and select Chat theme > Tap on 'Create with AI' option
Step 3: Describe the theme, and the Meta AI will churn out the photo-realistic images.
In a related development, WhatsApp is also testing a new feature to translate messages on WhatsApp.
With the new translation feature, it can translate several languages instantly. For the sake of user privacy and security, the in-app translator works within the device. This means the message never has to be transferred out of the phone and connect with a cloud server to get translated.
As of now, there is no official word on how many languages WhatsApp will support at the start.
