In a sweet yet heartbreaking incident, a Chinese police dog—the first Corgi who joined the force—has been denied it's year-end bonus by the department despite its stellar performance.

This misfortune fell upon our furry friend after it fell asleep during duty hours and also urinated in it's own food bowl, as per a report by South China Morning Post.

Fuzai, the canine cop, is not even two-years-old. It was born on August 28, 2023 and started its career as a reserve explosives-detection operative when it was only four-months-old. By October 2024, Fuzai managed to graduate from its reserve status to a full-time operative.

It sharpened its skills in policework at a training base in Weifang in northern China.

The dog landed up with a government job after a police dog trainer spotted it at a park with its owner. After persuasion, the owner donated the puppy to the police.

Fuzai's adventures are regularly posted on a Chinese social media account called Corgi Police Dog Fuzai and Its Comrades. The account has more than 3.84 lakh followers, as per the publication.

The account reported on January 19 that Fuzai was a well-performing employee and had completed a number of security tasks, which helped boost the profile of Weifang's police dogs.

And in acknowledgement of these achievements, Fuzai was presented with several treats and toys, along with a red flower.

In a video posted on the aforementioned social media account, a male police officer, while evaluating Fuzai's annual performance, told the canine, "You performed great this year. You passed the Level 4 assessment for police dogs."

“Not only that, you also successfully completed various security tasks and significantly helped promote Weifang’s police dogs. For these achievements, we reward you with a red follower and some canned snacks and toys,” he added.

He kept the shocker for the end.

“But because of your recent behaviour, being fatigued in the workplace and even urinating in your own dog basin, we had to criticise and confiscate your snacks as a penalty. You will keep only the red flower,” the police official said.

The video became a hit on social media, and a number of users requested the police to acknowledge Fuzai's hard work and give it the deserved treats.

After this, the police posted a follow-up video in which it clarified that despite the snacks being confiscated, Fuzai was presented with a generous gift package for the Lunar New Year.
