Karnataka CM seeks report as Covid cases spike

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has sought a report from the principle secretary of the state's health department in the wake of rising Covid-19 cases.

Bommai on Monday further stated that he would initiate action after going through the report.

"I have a sought report in the backdrop of spike in the numbers of Covid. Health Department principle secretary has informed that he will convey district wise meeting and submit the report."

Based on that, decisions would be taken and no need to get panic, he stated. (IANS)

India logs 4,518 fresh Covid-19 cases, 2,779 recoveries

India logged 4,518 new coronavirus infections taking the tally of Covid-19 cases to 4,31,81,335, while the active cases increased to 25,782, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday.

The death toll climbed to 5,24,701 with nine fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.06 per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.73 per cent, the ministry said. (PTI)

Mizoram reports 4 fresh Covid-19 cases

Mizoram reported four freshCovid-19 cases on Monday, the lowest single-day spike this year, taking the tally to 2,28,404, a health department official said on Monday.

TheCovid-19 death toll remained at 700 as no new fatality was reported in the last 24 hours, he said.

The single-day positivity rate increased to 9.76 per cent from 3.54 per cent the previous as the four cases were detected from 41 samples tested, the official said.

The state had reported nineCovid-19 cases on Sunday.

Mizoram now has 105 activeCovid-19 cases, while 2,27,599 people have recovered from the infection, including five persons on Sunday.

Former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and his newly wed wife Janja tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday and will remain isolated for the next few days, the leftist leader and front-runner for the October election said on Twitter.

They are both well, Lula with no symptoms and his wife with mild symptoms, the message said. The tweet included the diagnosis issued by his doctor Roberto Kalil.
