Athens: Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Friday named new finance and transport ministers in a cabinet reshuffle designed to boost support after mass protests over a 2023 train disaster.
Kyriakos Pierrakakis becomes finance minister, replacing Kostis Hatzidakis, who will take over as deputy prime minister.
Pierrakakis is a computer scientist who has spearheaded the digitisation of many state services as a digital governance minister.
Christos Dimas becomes transport minister and Konstantinos Kyranakakis, 37, deputy transport minister, tasked with supervising reform of Greece's railways.
The reshuffle comes weeks after hundreds of thousands took to the streets demanding justice over Greece's worst ever rail disaster, in which 57 people died, most of them students.
