It was in June 2025 that the billionaire reacted to an article by the New York Post, which mentioned Gor as Trump's "powerful aide". In his comment, he had called the US President's envoy pick "a snake".

"He's a snake," Musk wrote on X.

The original post was shared on the social media platform by NYT journalist Peter Baker. It read, "Sergio Gor, the director of presidential personnel in charge of vetting Trump's team, has yet to be vetted himself, having not submitted official paperwork about his own background needed for a permanent security clearance."

Months later, when Trump nominated Sergio Gor as the new US ambassador to India, netizens recalled Musk's "snake" remark. Several X users reposted the viral post and its screenshots online.

Elon Musk and Sergio Gor reportedly had tensions between them before the businessman resigned from the Trump administration in May. Musk criticised Gor at Cabinet meetings, mainly over "personal disagreements", reported The Hill.

Meanwhile, another NYT report said that Gor was involved in trying to remove Musk’s ally, Jared Isaacman, from a NASA position.

Adding to these bitter relations, Musk's "snake" remark came over a report that stated Gor had not finished his own security clearance paperwork and was working under temporary clearance. However, the White House strongly denied these claims.
