Police in Westerly, United States, have launched an investigation after discovering what appears to be human remains on Wednesday in the neighbourhood of Watch Hill, close to the holiday residence of pop star Taylor Swift, a NBC 10 WJAR report said.
According to the police, officers received a dispatch call to Everett Avenue at 9:30 am on Wednesday after a report was received suggesting the presence of human remains in the vicinity. The police officers dispatched to the location discovered what seems to be a human leg bone. The remains have been transferred to the Rhode Island Medical Examiner’s Office for further analysis.
The publication quoting the Westerly police stated that “no foul play is suspected” but some local residents are concerned about the discovery. Taylor Day, a resident of the town has disagreed, saying “I would definitely disagree with that,” she said. “I think finding a leg is very suspicious.”
According to the report, Day was allegedly driving by the scene when the police arrived. “I saw three police cars—one undercover—two looked like Westerly town police officers, and there was a medical examiner pulling in behind me,” She expressed her concern by stating “It kind of alarmed me, and it was just something very out of the ordinary for Westerly.”
Watch Hill is considered an Upmarket neighbourhood in Westerly with various wealthy residents and vacationers. The region also hosts Taylor Swift’s holiday home worth $ 17 Million (Rs 145.53 Crore). The witness also stated that the location makes the incident more unnerving. “It was probably a couple football fields away from Taylor Swift’s house and the Ocean House,” she said. “I would never expect anything like that—especially not in Watch Hill.” she said.
She also stated that speculation and recent investigations into similar incidents have sparked more anxiety among residents. “My mind immediately went to all the theories that are being thrown around,” Day said as mentioned by the publication. “I’m more aware of my surroundings. I don’t go [to] places that are kind of dim or where I could be alone. Just trying to stay out in public and be vigilant,” she added.
