A magnitude 5 earthquake struck the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan on Saturday, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre said.

The quake was at a depth of 123 kilometers (76.43 miles), EMSC said.

EMSC initially reported the magnitude as 5.5.
