An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 struck Kyrgyzstan on Monday, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre said.

The quake was at a depth of 7 km (4.35 miles), EMSC said.

EMSC earlier pegged the magnitude of the quake at 5.7.
