United States President Donald Trump on Wednesday said he is planning to do a trade deal with India as he addressed a gathering at the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in South Korea.
"I'm doing a trade deal with India, and I have great respect and love for Prime Minister Modi. We have a great relationship," Trump said.
Calling him a “killer” and “tough as hell,” Trump also claimed that he negotiated the ceasefire, but stopped an India-Pak 'nuclear war' by refusing to sign trade deals with either side.
Seven “brand-new, beautiful” aircraft were shot down during the May 7-10 cross-border military flare-up between India and Pakistan, the United States President said in Tokyo on Tuesday.
On Thursday, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said discussions between the US and India for the proposed trade agreement are progressing. He expressed hope that both sides would work towards a fair and equitable agreement in the near future.
