Myanmar has declared a state of emergency in six regions, including Sagaing, Mandalay, and the capital Naypyitaw following a strong earthquake on Friday and is seeking to conduct rescue operations as soon as possible, state media reported.

The government has initiated prompt investigations into the damage and plans to conduct rescue operations as soon as possible. Authorities will push for access to disaster relief and humanitarian aid, the military-controlled Global New Light of Myanmar said.
