Actor Nargis Fakhri's sister Aliya Fakhri has been arrested for the murder of her ex-boyfriend, 35-year-old Edward Jacobs, and his friend, 33-year-old Anastasia Ettienne in Jamaica.
According to the Queens District Attorney of New York, the 43-year-old arrived at a garage, where the two victims were sleeping, at around 6:20 am, and allegedly shouted, "You’re all going to die today,” before setting fire to the two-story garage.
The woman, alerted by the fire, went downstairs to check it before going back up to wake the man. However, the fire engulfed the building in such a manner that the two weren't able to escape and died of smoke inhalation and thermal injuries, the report said.
Reportedly, Jacobs had broken up with Aliya Fakhri around a year ago, but she still attempted to pursue him. The New York Post quoted Jacobs' mother, "Like any other person that is being rejected, he was letting her know like ‘Yo, I’m done with you. Get away from me.' He’d been trying to tell her to leave him alone for the past year, but she wasn’t accepting the rejection. They broke up a year ago.”
Nargis Fakhri is yet to react to these allegations. However, their mother has fervently denied them, saying, "I don’t think she would be killing someone. She was a person who was caring for everybody. She tried to help everybody," as reported by multiple news outlets.
Aliya faces a potential maximum of life in prison if convicted of the top charge. She must return to court on December 9.
