A video shared on X by RTN Canada where an unidentified man is heard hurling racist remarks at a group of young people, apparently Indians, has taken social media by storm.
Standing on the roadside with their luggage, the group of young boys and girls were visibly uncomfortable with the man recording them and calling them "Indian refugees".
“Alright, the refugees are here from India. This is Justin Trudeau‘s reign. So many Indians," the man, who is reportedly a foreigner himself can be heard saying in the video.
The post on X gained a lot of traction with netizens calling him out for bullying, while some even questioned if the youngsters were Indians in the first place.
"They are not refugees they are students paying lots of money to go there (sic)," one wrote on X, while another said: "Lot free time on hands does this. (sic)"
Echoing similar sentiments, another user wrote: "They pay huge amounts to the colleges and comes legally, go ask fight with your government if you have problem not with the students. (sic)"
Meanwhile, others questioned the accent of the man behind the camera. "Where is the guy speaking from? Doesn’t sound very Canadian. (sic)"
However, some of the comments were also in favour of the man shooting the video. "Treat them like shit! Maybe those things will get the hint (sic)," a user commented.
Before this post dated January 2, another video was shared by this handle alleging that the same man had earlier also harassed an Indian couple.
This comes at a time when the relations between India and Canada have come under severe strain following Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's allegations of a “potential” involvement of "Indian agents" in Khalistani extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar's killing.
New Delhi had rejected Trudeau's charges as “absurd”.
Nijjar, a Canadian citizen, was designated a terrorist by India.
India has been maintaining that the main issue between the two countries is that of Canada giving space to pro-Khalistan elements operating from Canadian soil with impunity.
