Pictures where Mahatma Gandhi's face can be seen on a beer can have surfaced on social media platforms leading to yet another controversy.
According to the pictures shared by Shri Suparno Satpathy on X, a Russian beer brand Rewort has used Gandhi's picture as a feature packaging.
Satpathy in an X (formerly Twitter) post, shared the pictures of the beer cans along with a caption which read, "My humble request with PM @narendramodi Ji is to take up this matter with his friend @KremlinRussia_E. It has been found that Russia’s Rewort is selling Beer in the name of GandhiJi… SS."
A social media user replied to Satpathy's post sying, "Shocking & unacceptable. A Russian brewery, Rewort, is selling beer named “Mahatma G.” mocking the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi..an icon of peace and abstinence. This is an insult to India’s values & a billion Indians. I urge PM @narendramodi and @DrSJaishankar Ji to take up this matter with @mfa_russia. Gandhi Ji is not a brand for alcohol... this must stop."
Another replied, "As long as the beer is harmlessly made…"
A third user replied, "And it's problem because?"
An X user wrote, "That's the greatest tribute ever to Mahatma Gandhi. Someone should introduce Whiskey and Rum also in his holy name."
Another X user said, "I think it’s good. First time he is at right place. Kyuki desh ka esa partition (Ind-Pak) koi nashe me he kar sakta hai."
A reply to the post read, "Oh wow, what better way to remind consumers that this beer is injurious!"
Another reply read, "Finally the Russians has placed Durātmā in his rightful place."
"Seems MK Gandhi enjoyed many things unknown to people," a third reply read.
