Russia's Defence Ministry said on Sunday that its forces had recaptured three more settlements in western Kursk region where they are trying to evict Ukrainian troops holding chunks of territory seven months after a cross-border incursion.

A ministry statement on the Telegram messaging app said Russian troops were now in control of Malaya Lokhnya, Cherkasskoye Porechnoye and Kositsa.

"The Russian Federation's armed forces are continuing to rout groups of the Ukrainian army on the territory of Kyrsk region," the statement said.
