A high-class escort or prostitute revealed what happens behind closed doors at Davos, in Switzerland, during the World Economic Forum, along with what the wealthy really think will happen to the world in the near future.
Salome Balthus, 40, is also an author apart from being an escort and travelled from Berlin to Davos to meet with clients during the WEF -- the annual gathering attended by the global elite.
She shared her experience with Daily Mail.
Balthus revealed that many are doom-mongering about the fate of the world and have decided to enjoy it while it lasts. "The elephant in the room is climate change. Everyone knows it can't be prevented any more," she told MailOnline, adding that the 'super rich' could be divided into two groups on the topic.
One feels it only affects the poor, the 'not-white race' as per the author/escort, while others feel it will only get worse and there is no sense in trying to do anything about it, so they might as well enjoy the time that remains.
"The one half is in despair and the other, dumber, half is celebrating future mass deaths. It's not just like that in Davos of course, but it's concentrated there [during the WEF]," the British tabloid reported her as saying.
Balthus added that while some believe that those in third-world countries 'might all die' but those in the North would be fine, others feel that it will affect everyone due to 'unforeseeable chain reactions.' However, while the former group reportedly is urging that masses be lied to, the others are living with the mantra of 'after us, the deluge'.
The escort revealed that those at the WEF are 'very cynical and somehow deeply sad.' Topics like the world being doomed come up at bars, saunas, or hotel lobbies, especially if those having the conversation have some alcohol in the system, she told the publication.
She went on to state that she is viewed as an object by those at the WEF, and claimed that 'tax the rich' is a joke for the wealthy elite behind closed doors.
As per the escort, client meets there are more about the 'passion of power' than 'passion of erotica'.
"It's not the super powerful that do something like this [hiring an escort] - they are happy when they get a bit of time for their families - no, it's the more the subaltern workers who are excited, maybe even there for the first time," she said.
Balthus has a feminist escort agency in Berlin, where a weekend costs clients 5,000 pounds. A two-hour tete-a-tete starts at 850 pounds.
The philosophy graduate also told the publication that her choice of clients is 'more exclusive' and she chooses those who appear to value her for her intelligence, not just her beauty and discretion.
"With the people I meet [at the WEF] I agree on special conditions that I can't talk about and I only meet up with people that I like somehow," she said, adding, "There's obviously also some very intelligent people there and all I can say is they probably need a lot of alcohol right now [in light of the current state of the world]."
As per the tabloid, in Davos, escorts that are sought after, are dressed smartly in business suits, and are often well-educated and fluent in at least two languages -- this way they don't stand out and can cater to the annual forum visited by wealthy men in business and politics.
An escort by the name of Tiffany told the publication, "I wear normal clothes - a purple suit and a black coat - to make it look like I am actually part of the conference scene."
Prostitution is legal is Switzerland and sex workers are expected to pay taxes and register with local authorities, and undergo regular tests as well.
