Seoul: South Korea's acting President Han Duck-soo said on Tuesday he would "clearly like to negotiate" with the United States over reducing tariffs imposed on his country by the Trump administration.

Speaking in an interview with CNN, Han also said South Korea would not band together with China, Japan or other countries to push back against the new tariffs, which have rocked global markets and stoked international fears of a recession.

President Donald Trump said on Tuesday he had held a "great" call with Han and saw the "probability of a great DEAL for both countries". Their talks touched on tariffs, shipbuilding, potential energy deals and South Korean payment for US military protection.
