In an unsettling event, three kids were rescued from a house in Spain's Oviedo, after parents kept them trapped inside since December 2021. As per a report by El Comercio, the parents are said to have been suffering from "Covid syndrome".
As per a report by VeryWell Mind, following the pandemic, some people experienced Covid-19 anxiety syndrome, where an individual tends to "compulsively check for Covid symptoms, avoid public spaces, and cleans spaces obsessively."
The parents, 53 year old German man and his 48 year old wife, who is an American with a reman passport have been arrested and charged for domestic violence with habitual psychological abuse.
As soon as the kids, 8 year old twins, and a 10 year old stepped out of the house they touched grass, the New York Post reported, quoting the police.
One of the officers told El Comercio that the children slept in cribs, and the pictures shared by publications show the crib scribbled with crayon art.
The cops described a gruesome scene inside the house, with trash and medications found, along with masks.
The investigation began after a resident informed officials that there might be children in the home who haven't gone to school for years.
The New York Post quoting El Mundo stated that the children were in "terrible shape", however, they were "not malnourished, as they were fed."
Further quoting the investigator, the report said that the kids were "dirty" and "cut off from the reality" as they were trapped for years.
