Trump hosted Juventus team ahead of their lung opener Al Ain and topics discussed during the dinner ranged from the West Asia crisis to transgender athletes.

As per a report in Time, Trump asked players “Could a woman make your team, fellas?”

To this, Juventus players including American players Timothy Weah and Weston McKennie smiled awkwardly and evaded an answer.

The maverick US President then turned to the club’s general manager Damien Comolli, asking the same question.

“We have a very good women’s team.” The team won the latest Italian League Championship," Comilli replied.

Trump's questions assume significance considering the fact that he had issued a ban on transgender athletes in February.

Players too were surprised with the weird questions posed by Trump as Weih summed it up aptly.

“I was kind of like, I just want to play football … They just told us that we have to go, and I had no choice but to go. So I guess it was a cool experience, obviously being in the White House as a first time… But I’m not one for the politics, so it wasn’t that exciting,” he said.
