Ankara: Turkey's main opposition will file legal appeals against a court ruling on Sunday to jail Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu pending trial on graft charges, the party's leader said, adding the case was plot and politically motivated.
Speaking to reporters at the Istanbul courthouse, CHP leader Ozgur Ozel also said the Istanbul municipality council would now elect someone to work as acting mayor while they await a ruling on Imamoglu.
