In a day-long exercise, officials from different federal agencies, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the FBI on Thursday raided the offices on the University of Northern Virginia’s (UNVA) Annandale campus and took away boxes full of documents and computer parts from its administrative division.

“Officials from ICE’s Student and Exchange Visitor Programme served UNVA with a notice of intent to withdraw UNVA’s authorisation to admit foreign students,” said ICE spokeswoman Cori W Bassett.

The university which is believed to have 2,400 students posted a notice saying it was still open and students have the option to move to other varsities if they want.

Meanwhile, the External Affairs Ministry in New Delhi said on Friday the probe was against the varsity and not Indian students. It also added that UNVA was given a month to explain its visa related activities.
