As per a report by The Independent, passengers moved out through the wing of the Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft. No injuries were reported in the incident.

The evacuation was carried after the flight landed in Georgia's Augusta Regional Airport on April 1, around 9:50 am.

Videos of the incident posted on social media platforms show the passengers leaving via the emergency exit, stepping onto the wing of the plane and evacuating safely.

People were seen helping fellow passengers, while one of them was seen carrying his pet dog in his arms.

The clip was originally shared by Sean O'Connor and he can be heard sayiing, "Here’s our flight into Augusta and we’ve evacuated and climbed out onto the wing,"

Sean could also be heard saying the cabin was filled with smoke and it smelled like brakes were burning.

"Smelled like the brakes were burning or something, the cabin was filled with smoke. Looks like everybody’s safe, and, uh, welcome to Augusta," he said.

The report stated that brand American Eagle flight 5406, which is operated by PSA Airlines was a 55-minute flight from Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina.

The airlines in their statement described a maintenance issue as the reason for the cabin fire.

They experienced a "maintenance issue after landing safely in Augusta, all passengers deplaned and were escorted to the airport terminal," the statement noted, as reported by the publication.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating into the matter.

This incident comes weeks after a similar one took place. An American Airlines plane was diverted to Denver International Airport after there were reports of "engine vibrations" after which it caught fire.

Reportedly 12 people had sustained minor injuries in the incident. Videos shared online showed passengers standing on the plane wing and being evacuated.
