US President Donald Trump will discuss his ​American First-based economic ‌policies at ⁠the World Economic ‌Forum on Wednesday, and talk about foreign policy on Thursday, ​a senior White House official told reporters ‌en ‌route to Davos.

Trump may touch on ⁠issues involving Greenland and Venezuela as well as ⁠his ⁠planned Board of ‌Peace and ‌hemispheric domination, the official said. The US president ‍landed in Zurich early Wednesday and will proceed to Davos.

Italian Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said on Wednesday it appeared problematic for his country to join the so-called Board of Peace promoted by U.S. President Donald ​Trump to govern Gaza.

Speaking at an event in Rome to present ‌the Winter Olympics Italy is hosting next month, ⁠Giorgetti said that judging from ‌news reports he had read "it seems there are some problems" regarding Rome's participation in Trump's initiative.

Italian daily Corriere della Sera reported earlier on Wednesday that Italy would not take part, citing concern that joining a group led by ​a single country's leader would violate the constitution.

NATO situation difficult but must focus on Russia, says Norway's defence minister

 The situation in NATO is difficult due to the ​crisis over Greenland, but western allies must remember their ‌common adversary is Russia, which ⁠is increasing its military ‌presence in the Arctic, Norway's defence minister said on Wednesday.

"These are demanding times. The situation in NATO is difficult," Tore Sandvik told a meeting with foreign correspondents ​in Oslo.

"The dimensional threat for the West, for NATO, (for) all members of NATO, still is Russia," he said.

Sandvik was speaking ‌as the ‌Western military alliance is fraying under the pressure of U.S. President Donald ⁠Trump's relentless push to acquire Greenland from fellow NATO ally Denmark.

NATO allies should not allow ​tensions over Greenland ‌to distract ⁠them from the ‌need to defend Ukraine, NATO Secretary General Mark ​Rutte said on Wednesday.

"The focus on Ukraine should be ‌the ‌number one priority, it is ⁠crucial for European and U.S. security," Rutte ⁠said in ⁠a panel discussion at ‌the ‌World Economic Forum in Davos.

NATO chief Mark Rutte pushed back Wednesday against President Donald Trump's claims European allies would not help defend the United States if asked, reports AFP.

"He said last night in his presser that he was doubtful whether the Europeans would come to the rescue if Article Five will be triggered. I tell him, yes they will," Rutte said at the World Economic Forum.
